2006 Wines from Seppelt

2006 Seppelt Benno Shiraz

Colour: Deep red with purple hues. Nose: An enticing amalgamation of vibrant dark plum, briar fruits, hints of spice and cedary oak. Palate: A rich balanced palate of plum, black fruits and dark chocolate notes layered with supporting oak. Firm, velvety tannins support this intense medium to full bodied wine.

2006 Seppelt Fleur de Lys Pinot Noir Chardonnay Pinot Meunier

Colour: Vibrant, pale gold in colour with some green tints. The mousse is fine and persistent. Nose: The bouquet displays a rich complexity of baked bread and nutty characters of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Creamy fruit and complex bread characters highlight the extended maturation period on yeast lees. Palate: The textured palate is fine and soft with layers of citrus and strawberry fruit. The wine has excellent balance and great palate length, finishing dry with crisp acidity.

2006 Seppelt Silverband Shiraz

Colour: Crimson with vibrant purple hues. Nose: The perfumed nose shows notes of dark cherry, berry fruits with underlying tar. Palate: This medium bodied wine is vibrant, showing intense and generous regional fruits layered with subtle oak. This stylish regional Shiraz has talcum-like supporting tannins and excellent length.

2006 Seppelt Mt Ida Shiraz

Mount Ida is located in the legendary Shiraz growing region of Heathcote, Central Victoria. First planted in the mid 1970s, the Mount Ida Vineyards were decimated by the Ash Wednesday bush fires in 1983. The vines took three years to fully recover and resume producing the extraordinary Shiraz that the Heathcote region is celebrated for. Traditional winemaking techniques, when applied to this dry-grown fruit, produces the intense blend of ripe fruit and black pepper flavours that Mount Ida Shiraz is renowned for. This 2006 Seppelt Mount Ida Heathcote Shiraz is an intense and rich wine that will develop with age, rewarding up to ten years of careful cellaring. Colour - Deep red...

Colour: Dark crimson with purple hues. Nose: There's depth and complexity on the nose with riper dark berry, cherry and raspberry aromas with cooler climate black pepper, spice, dark chocolate nuances and underlying, integrated cedary oak. Palate: This medium to full bodied wine possesses the classically rich mid-palate and elegant structure of Central Victorian Shiraz. Flavours of spicy dark berry fruits and chocolate are supported by fine-grained tannins and cedary oak. The finish is long with a savoury complexity. Juicy acidity is approachable on release, yet gives the wine the necessary structure to go the distance in the cellar.

Beautifully fashioned, delicate and elegant; a classic example of how more restrained wines can be ignored in wine shows (as this one was at the Sydney Wine Show '07); cool-climate chardonnay perfectly married with the right amount of high quality French o

Has consistently shown more structure and texture than the majority of wines in this amazingly loved category; minerally musk, apple and pear; dry finish.

Colour: Pale lemon with a green hue. Nose: The nose shows vibrant yet delicate citrus fruits with lifted floral notes. Palate: The refined palate of orange and lime citrus fruits with underlying minerality is supported by a backbone of distinct Drumborg acidity, which gives the wine both structure and length, culminating in a long elegant finish.

Complex, toasty and somewhat funky nose and plenty of solid flavours on the soft mid-palate.

Colour: Dark garnet with crimson hues. Nose: Aromas of cassis, briar and dark fruits with chocolate nuances. Palate: Concentrated characters of cassis, bramble, ripe dark fruits and underlying choc mint. This medium bodied wine possesses remarkable balance, with a long and seamless palate supported by textured tannins.

The innate power of the wine expresses itself in the length of the palate and finish rather than the more usual depth of flavour, which will appeal to those looking for elegance and subtlety Great price

Colour: Brilliant pale yellow with green hues. Nose: The bouquet shows restrained citrus and white peach aromas with a subtle nutty, French oak complexity. Palate: The wine has a long and defined palate with exceptional length of flavour. Cleansing natural acidity and a mineral element give structure to the palate, while creamy, barrel ferment notes compliment the citrus fruits to make a powerfully elegant, yet complex wine. Whilst complete now, the 2006 Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay promises a long cellaring future.

Hard and chunky, with an assertive smokiness that pervades its dark aromas of plums, blackberries and minerals and its rather heavy, raw and astringent palate. It appears to have been stripped of fruit, lacking length and movement down the palate.

Quite a sweet style of sparkling red, with barnyard-like complexity and good depth of intense, dense, berry fruit characters. Nice palate line with some green herbaceous-like flavours.

Colour: Deep, crimson red. Nose: The nose shows complex sweet spice, star anise and pepper with fragrant, densely packed regional dark fruits. Palate: This elegant, medium bodied, but opulent wine has intense characters of pepper and spice, underlying mulberry and black cherry fruit and hints of chocolate. The palate is long and seamless, supported by fine grained tannins and cedary oak.

Smooth and minty, this sweetly oaked and dark-fruited shiraz marries fresh flavours of black and red berries with aromatic oak and a pleasingly spicy spectrum of pepper, cloves and cinnamon. Backed by a fine-grained extract, its juicy palate is vibrant, well balanced and has enough structure for at least the short term. Great value.

There's heaps of ripe sweet fruit in this pleasant medium-bodied red.
