2009 The Lane Unwooded Chardonnay

Although Chardonnay has changed for the better there are still those that like to know it comes with the promise of no wood. Unwooded means it’s all about the fruit, as you’ll see in this fresh style from the Adelaide Hills. It’s aromatic and fresh with aromas of apple and pear before quite a linear plate that delivers elegance, concentration, and a full mouthfeel. This stunner from the Adelaide Hills will pair really well with soft shell crab.

The Lane Awards & Accolades "This is a straightforward Adelaide Hills chardonnay with little of the artifice that marks trendy styles. The nose has melon and tropical fruit notes with a measured seasoning of high-toned oak. It's medium in body and relatively simple in the mouth but has a pleasant personality and a light, soft finish. Easy drinking." 4 Stars - Ralph-Kyte Powell, The Age Epicure, Sept. 20...

NV The Lane Lois Blanc de Blanc

Somewhere in the Adelaide Hills there’s a Lane and it’s here that they make premium quality, cool climate wines that are refined and regional. This sparkling little number is bound to put you in the mood for celebration as it’s just so drinkable and full of effervescent energy. As befitting the quirks of the winery, this wine is called Lois, put it together and you get Lois Lane. Silly jokes aside, the wine is full of apple and cracked wheat aromas with a rich vein of citrus. It has a refreshing mineral palate with clean lemony flavours and firm acids, so it works well with seafood.

2010 The Lane Block 3 Chardonnay

If there is one thing that The Lane are good at it's Chardonnay, creating classic modern Australian Chardonnay to write home about. This single block wine is suitably full of Chardy goodness with lots of power and flavour.

2012 The Lane Block 2 Pinot Gris

The Adelaide Hill is famed for its Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, so it was only a matter of time before someone decided to give Pinot Gris a red hot go, in this cool, elevated climate. This is quite a lifted style reminiscent of pear and floral characters as well as a tantalising spicy edge. The palate continues the theme with baked pears cooked in all spice. It works very well with roast pork and apple sauce.

2012 The Lane Block 10 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Here is something that is a little bit exotic with a cheeky citrusy twist. Tropical fruits of passionfruit and mangos leap out of the glass before awakening the palate with some racy lemon and lime acid along with some appealing grassy edges. It tastes like an island holiday escape on the beach swinging in a hammock. You could also try it with some sauted squid for that extra exotic feeling.

2011 The Lane Block 5 Shiraz

The Adelaide Hills has quickly garnered a reputation for Shiraz, and Cracka always manages to find the best examples. This was one we found down The Lane, not any old lane mind you, one of the most stylish lanes in the Adelaide Hills and they are producing top class wines. In this incarnation they have created a food friendly wine that is lifted in brambly berries and spice with a structured palate of concentrated fruit, soft tannins and wonderful persistence.

2008 The Lane Pinot Grigio

If you are looking for a taste of Italy, this wine is right up your street. Slightly pink in colour (Little bit of trivia for you, it comes from the skins), lots of honey, pears and a whiff of spice run around the nose hairs before the palate kicks in with opulent, ripe fruit and lasting flavour. This isn't your usual Pinot Grigio, it's something that is intriguing, highly drinkable and will be great with spicy Asian food.

2010 The Lane Gathering Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

Seamless and glugable are two ways you could describe this wine, but basically it's just a really good drink that's ready to go right now! It does have a sense of style about it though, with some attractive stone fruits and citrus along with slight herbs and nettle. The palate is not 'in your face', in fact it's quite subtle and rounded with a whisper of oak and tropical fruits. It's an ideal food wine and would go well with shellfish inspired dishes.

2010 The Lane Beginning Chardonnay

This is the perfect wine to reaquaint yourself with chardonnay. A new beginning, even. This is not the usual 'old school' big, oaky Chardonnay that many have come to know, and some still love, but more a new wave version that is fresh and fruity in an apples, pears and citrus way. There is no oak in this baby, so the palate is very zesty with a creamy mouthfeel and precise acid. Would be a great match with sashimi.

2010 The Lane Block 14 Shiraz

Block 14,sounds like one of those top secret US areas where they hide alien activities. Nothing alien about this Shiraz from the Adelaide Hills, it’s actually a top-notch premium effort from the well-respected Lane Vineyard. It’s a broody dark fruited beast with plenty of dark fruits and spice. Blueberries and dark pepper flavours on the palate with well-structured tannins and surprisingly persistent length. A perfect wine for a steak.
