Founded in 1896, Basedow winery has been consistently producing quality wines in South Australia’s Barossa Valley for over 100 years.

Johannes Christoff Basedow was a carpenter by trade and built famous regional landmarks in the Barossa including Chateau Tanunda and Bethany Chapel. With a keen interest in wine, he and his brother Friedrich, a founder of Roseworthy Agricultural College, went on to build Basedow winery in 1896.

Although Johannes passed away a few short years later, his nephew Oscar resurrected the family’s legendary winemaking tradition and with his passion came much success.

Today, Basedow is owned and operated by national wine producer and wholesaler, the James Australia Group, however the focus for producing memorable Barossa wine continues.

Region: Barossa Valley

Nice example of style - a tad on the lean side, with asparagus and green bean varietal characters.

Aged, oaky aromas and a mouthful of sweet ripe stone-fruits balanced by oak. Quite warm. 5+
