Cable Station Wines
When you think Pinot Noir and New Zealand you’d normally associate Central Otago as the go to region. However we are increasingly seeing superb examples from Marlborough, like this supple little number from the folk at Cable Station. It’s plum dominant with lovely elements of spicy oak that lead to a fruit forward palate that is comforting, silky and seductive. We love this wine at Cracka HQ and find we often make an excuse to head to our local Chinese and order crispy duck pancakes just to open a bottle or two.

There’s nothing new about Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, for the last decade this wine style has been laying siege to our bottle shops and it refuses to remove its vice like grip. One thing that has happened though is a refinement of the style and this Savvy from Cable Station is indicative of the new breed of Marlborough. It’s typically varietal with grapefruit and lime aromas that continue on the palate with a burst of passionfruit tropicality and crunchy acids on the long finish. A fun wine to have on hand when friends unexpectedly turn up and demand liquid refreshment.

This has a dark toasty nose with a shroud of forest floor aromas and earthy nuances too, and dark cherry fruit below. Brooding, savoury mocha-flavoured oak has the upper hand here but if you like some coffee with your pinot this might be just the thing!
Cable Station Wines
Color: A lovely rich ruby color. Bouquet: Aromas of ripe plum integrate well with subtle spicy oak. Palate: Prune and black cherry with cassis again integrate with subtle spicy oak and fine tannins.

Colour: Clear light straw with green highlights. Palate: Intense pungency of grapefruit and lime mingle with more tropical passion fruit notes.
