Attilio and Rosa Freschi emigrated from Italy to Adelaide’s Langhorne Creek 1954 with a love of wine seeing them plant their first vines in 1972.
With a natural affinity to the land, Attilio was soon producing blends of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and malbec laden with flavour and character. However despite his growing reputation and awards, Atiilio preferred to share rather than sell his creations.
After his death in 1997, son David Freschi established the Casa Freschi vineyard and continues to emanate his father’s celebrated legacy and craftsmanship producing outstanding single vineyard wines.
Casa Freschi Philosophy
David Freschi is dedicated to creating premium single vineyard wines. Like his late father, he aspires to grow high quality and interesting wine varieties in harmony with nature, showcasing these in their truest form.
Casa Freschi Winemaker
David Freschi makes his wines with feel rather than to recipe. Having completed his winemaking study in Australia, he traveled to the likes of California, New Zealand and back to Italy before forging his career as winemaker, establishing his family brand, Casa Freschi.
Casa Freschi Vineyards
Casa Freschi is comprised of two South Australian vineyards; the original Langhorne Creek is home to red wine grape varieties including cabernet sauvingon, shiraz malbec and nebbiolo. Additionally, by the slopes of Mt Lofty in the Adelaide Hills, lies the second vineyard where white varieties such as pinot grigo, riesling, chardonnay and gewürztraminer are grown.

Medium to light red/brick-red colour. Looks aged. Herbal, tobaccoey developed bouquet, seems high pH and vegetal with aged character super-imposed. Rather dull, tired palate, no freshness or fruit here. No future.
Medium yellow colour with a slightly golden tint. Big, rich, spicy bouquet with some evidence of barrels, toasty and nutty as well as spicy and floral. Oak has been used subtly. Bracing acidity opens the palate, then intense flavour and lively, in...
