READ ABOUT Chapel Hill Winery...

Chapel Hill was established in 1973 in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Known for their Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines predominately, the winery has evolved into a cornerstone winery in the region and in recent years has been working with alternative grape varieties like Sangiovese and Tempranillo. They have been a leading proponent of environmental sustainability, taking on a charter to ensure green practices are adhered to in their maintenance of vines, and in their winemaking.

One of the larger operations in McLaren Vale, Chapel Hill is led by Michael Fragos, the established wine maker who works closely with his vineyard team. The vineyards are being moved over to biodynamic viticulture to achieve ultimate balance for the vines. Wines are made with modern technique, though traditional influences are found in the winery.

Chapel Hill Location

Set in the premium grape growing region of McLaren Vale in South Australia, the Chapel Hill winery and cellar door is located on Chapel Hill Road in McLaren Vale on the edge of the Onkaparinga River Recreation Park.

Chapel Hill Wine Types

Chapel Hill makes wines from a range of grapes and continues to innovate with alternate varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are the premier varieties, but Chapel Hill also produces wines at varying price points with Chardonnay, Grenache, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Verdelho and Savagnin.

Chapel Hill Brands

The stand out wine is The Vicar Shiraz, a rich and dense red wine that reflects the signature concentration and depth of flavour of the region. The Il Vescovo wines have been commercially successful for their bright fruit spectrum yet depth of savoury complexity. The ‘McLaren Vale’ wines work with single varieties including the stand-out Bush Vine Grenache. The Foundation range includes the popular, fruit driven Unwooded Chardonnay and Verdelho.
