Chapel Hill was established in 1973 in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Known for their Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines predominately, the winery has evolved into a cornerstone winery in the region and in recent years has been working with alternative grape varieties like Sangiovese and Tempranillo. They have been a leading proponent of environmental sustainability, taking on a charter to ensure green practices are adhered to in their maintenance of vines, and in their winemaking.
One of the larger operations in McLaren Vale, Chapel Hill is led by Michael Fragos, the established wine maker who works closely with his vineyard team. The vineyards are being moved over to biodynamic viticulture to achieve ultimate balance for the vines. Wines are made with modern technique, though traditional influences are found in the winery.
