This Franco-Kiwi pinot shows ripe, deep and bright cherry fruit aromas, terrific freshness and purity; there's old-world savoury aromas, winemaking has bound the fruit in tight. Superb palate texture, fine and dense, savoury tannins climb through the finish, dragging musky cherry fruit in their wake. Will build further weight in the medium term.

A southern hemisphere outpost for the Sancerre producer, Henri Bourgeois, close-planted and Euro-inspired. The fruit has some savoury complexity here, flinty and spicy, tropicals are on show. Terrific texture and weight, balanced, complex and layered palate; impressive wine, driving dry finish.

This has an air of real polish to it; made by Frenchman Henri Bourgeois, it has a brightness and richness that combine in an impressive style. The citrus and tropical fruits are deeply anchored in here - some herbs too - and there's a lingering textural richness and presence, with really satisfying balance to close.

This is a more pared-back sauvignon than the Bel Echo, with a much more savoury style to it. Sweet-smelling tropical fruits are still in place, but winemaking adds significant savoury restraint, giving the wine a more discreet presence and an almost chalky finish.

The Clos Henri pinot is an assertive red-fruit and cassis style that offers a strident, sappy edge, red liquorice and redcurrant on the nose, and a little mint too. The palate's tangy and bright, tannins are taut at this stage, and fine, chalky grip builds and holds the finish down for now. Needs time.

A terrific little pinot from this French-owned New Zealand producer. There's a bright, fragrant nose that delves into earthier charcuterie and spice, as well as the usual array of ripe cherries. The palate's juicy and bright, showing some assertive, savoury chewy tannins, and good hearty plum and cherry flavour. More structure than most here.

This, the junior wine of the Clos Henri project, has a wealth of concentrated ripe lime and grapefruit citrus, passionfruit and flinty complexity - stylish. The palate's packed with flavour, really lively and intense, with chalky texture and a long, crisp, sizzling finish.

This is ripe and fragrant, with flinty notes, grapefruit, lime and lemon, gooseberry, blackcurrant and fresh minerally lift - an amazing wine on the nose alone. The palate delivers more excitement, with ripe, juicy tropical-fruit and citrus flavours at the core, plenty of lees-derived texture and vineyard drive, finishing fresh and full of energy.
