Dalfarras is the self-professed vinous baby of Alister Purbrick (CEO – Tahbilk Wines) and his wife, Rosa. The name comes from Rosa’s maiden name, Dal Farra, and it was ‘born’ in 1991. Alister calls it their experimental label. He uses Dalfarras to have a play with quirky, multi-regional varietals that are not grown on the Tahbilk estate. Dalfarras also shows off Rosa’s artistic talents through the label designs.
The blends are as eclectic, but not unheard of, as the varietals used. They vary from a crisp and spicy Gewürztraminer / Riesling blend through to an Italian inspired Cabernet / Sangiovese. There is even a tropical, racy sparkling Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are fashioned to be good value, immediate drinking, no-nonsense styles that make for perfect quaffing at any family gathering or Friday night in.

The striking, near-psychedelic label is son Matt's use of three images of mother Rosa's painting, the wine blend assisted by daughter Hayley; the colour is fresh, as are the vibrantly juicy flavours of the wine.
Attractive oak/plum aromas and lovely sour cherry and bitter chocolate palate showing a hint of licorice.
Sweaty, old-fashioned style with huge consumer appeal. Beautifully lifted gooseberry/passionfruit aromas - sherbety. Hugely powerful fruit bomb of a palate, slightly sweet but has the acid.
