Devils Lair are a premium wine producer with flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines that have made names for themselves as sitting amongst the benchmark wines for the region. A premium producer with wines that reflect the high standards achieved from vineyards in the region along with collectability and cellaring potential.
Devil's Lair Location
Occupying select vineyards in the Margaret River region in Western Australia, Devils Lair sources fruit from one of the coolest sites in the district. The original vineyards were planted in 1982 on gravely soils. The wines show plenty of natural acidity from their cooler sites.
Devil's Lair Wine Types
Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are the premier varities for Devils Lair, though there is production of Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz, Semillon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. BRANDS – The Devils Lair range is now split into three tiers, Fifth Leg, Devils Lair wines and a new release range called ‘Dance With The Devil’ which offers easy drinking, bistro friendly white and red blends.

Traditional winemaking has its place at Devils Lair, but innovation and modern winemaking technique drive the wine styles. Quality oak with measured handling is key and the Fifth Leg wines show great purity of fruit. The wines present with as much pristine, clean form as possible. Oliver Crawford is the chief winemaker.

Vibrant melon and freshly cut white nectarines are complemented by honey suckle and nougat complexity. Pink grapefruit and pears mingle with white stone fruits. Seamless cashew oak integration finishes with mouth watering acidity.
Devil's Lair seems to have been forgotten in recent years. Or at least they are skipping by a little more quietly than they used to. Why that is we're not quiet sure, particularly given that the wines are unquestionably in good form, but we're not...
A newer range for Devil's Lair, this crisp - yet still sufficiently rich - Margaret River Chardonnay has lightly nutty flavours on a crisp, yet rich, palate.
