Dusky Sounds Wines

Dusky Sounds are a Kiwi winery making all the right noises with their crisp, aromatic whites. If there’s going to be another breakthrough grape from New Zealand then we’ve got our eyes firmly set on Pinot Gris. This is firmly built around the European mould offering a textural style of wine that’s great with food. It’s perfumed with stonefruit, has a nicely intense fruit palate, good balance and a clean acid finish and a lingering spiciness.

Dusky Sounds could be the name of a band, but it’s actually a winery turning out rather fine wines from Marlborough. The sound of applause is all you will hear when you pour this for your guests because it’s just so damn drinkable. It’s lifted with varietal grapefruit and citrus with some herbaceous edges. The palate is bursting with the tropical zing you’ve come to expect from proper Kiwi savvy and it ends with clean refreshing acids.

Colour: Pale straw. Nose: Lifted notes of guava, grapefruit and a touch of green bean. A succulent palate full of tropical and citrus notes, with a crisp, fresh finish. Palate: Each parcel of fruit was carefully monitored during ripening so it could be harvested at optimum maturity. The fruit parcels were immediately pressed with minimal skin contact to avoid juice deterioration. After settling, each batch was cool fermented in stainless steel. The wines were blended shortly after the completion of fermentation and then carefully balanced and prepared for bottling.
