Fox Creek Location and History
Fox Creek was founded by Jim and Helen Watts in 1984. The estate is located in the premier South Australian region of McLaren Vale. The region is renowned for red wines, particularly shiraz. Fox creek has a solid reputation for wines that have been recognised with many awards and trophies from national and regional wine shows. Fox Creek has 60ha of vineyard spanning a km radius, not far from the village of Willunga.
Fox Creek Winemaking
Fox Creek wines are produced entirely from grapes grown in the McLaren Vale region. Tremendous importance is placed on caring for vines with open trellising, minimal chemical inputs and optimal timing of harvest. They employ an environmentally friendly focus and use sustainable practices where possible. Vineyards are surrounded with plantings of indigenous trees that provide habitat, food and shelter for native birds. Senior winemaker, Scott Zrna aims to craft high quality premium wines.
Fox Creek Range and Wine Types
Fox Creek is best known for an outstanding range of high quality reds, most notably from shiraz, but also cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. Whites include chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and verdelho. The Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz is the flagship Fox Creek wine and sets a benchmark for quality in the region. Named after the vineyard border collie, the Shadow's Run range forms the second tier of Fox Creek wines. Launched in 2006, the Red Baron shiraz is a soft, entry level red delivering rich flavour framed in smooth, ripe tannins. The Fox Creek Vixen sparkling shiraz cabernet franc makes the ultimate party companion.
