The first vines were planted in 1979 by Geoff and Susan Bull, making them one of the founding producers in Tasmania and the first on the east coast. Freycinet are on of Australia’s leading and most consistent Pinot Noir producers. Prized fruit is grown in a moderate, yet full ripe way and is sourced to reflect the best impression of the season.
Freycinet Vineyard Location
Located on the spectacular, ocean framed east coast of Tasmania, Freycinet Vineyard takes its name from the coast in which they were pioneers. The site is approximately 100m above sea level and less than 20km from the coast. The original vineyard is set in a natural amphiteatre with warm, shallow, free draining clay on loam soils.
Freycinet Wine Types
Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot are the major varieties with the exception of the rarely found Schonburger.
Freycinet Brands
All wines appear under the estate brand with the exception of the Sparkling wine – Radenti is the name of the separate brand.
Freycinet Winery
Minimal intervention is key in winemaking with a preference for natural expression of fruit in the winery.
