Galli Estate Winery

Back in the 1950s Lorenzo Galli had a vision to make wine in Australia as his family had done for generations before in his native Italy. Two sites were chosen in Heathcote and Sunbury respectively that both had a combination of soil and climate that would best express the wines he intended to make. A visit to Galli Estate is a must, to experience Italian style wines complemented by a delicious cellar door experience.

Galli Estate Location

Galli sources its grapes from two vineyard sites, Sunbury and Heathcote. The Sunbury vineyards represent 50 hectares alongside the vineyard is the winery, cellar door and restaurant. It’s generally cool climate enjoying a cool dry growing season for vines that sit in red volcanic soil over clay loams. The Heathcote holdings represent 110 hectares, 100 kms north of Melbourne. As well as more popular styles such as Shiraz, the Galli’s have planted more alternative varieties that are suited to the Heathcote region such as Nebbiolo and Sangiovese.

There is a wide range in the Galli portfolio including Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Chardonnay, through to Shiraz Viognier, Tempranillo, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese.

There are three tiers in the Galli Estate wine offerings, the Family Range, the Artigiano Range and the Riserva Wines that represent the Galli vision to produce the best quality wines that come from only the best vintages.
