In 2003, after 29 years making wine for Penfolds, John Duval struck out on his own, creating this eponymous label to showcase something very close to his own heart - Barossan reds.
John Duval's history
You could argue that John was destined to end up in the wine industry, with his family running a successful sheep stud and vineyards just south of Adelaide for many years. John started his wine education at Adelaide University, graduating in agriculture and winemaking in 1973 and then went on to join Pendolds, working alongside such luminaries as Don Ditter, before eventually taking up the mantle of Chief Winemaker in 1986, becoming only the third person ever to take on the responsibility of Grange. Since 2003 John has consulted around the world, working on projects in Washington (USA), Chile and Europe whilst also crafting the John Duval wines at home in the Barossa.
John Duval Wine Types
Given his history is would surprise few people to hear that John is concentrating on red wines. John's wines include 'Plexus', a Barossan Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre blend and two Shiraz 'Entity' and 'Eligo'.

From ex-Grange maker John Duval comes this elegant and juicy SGM. Scents of raspberries, dark cherries and deli-meats rise appealingly out of the glass, before the palate chimes in with red and black berry tastes, a lick of toast, chalky tannins, ...
My aim with Plexus MRV is to promote a vibrant expression of fruit aromas from the interaction of the three varieties; and on the palate, to build structure and texture, rather than just acid crispness. Appearance: Attractive pale straw with li...
