Juniper Estate is located in the beating heart of the Margaret River wine region at Wilyabrup, home to some of the most salubrious addresses in the area (including Moss Wood, Cullen, Gralyn, Vass Felix etc).
Juniper is also one of the oldest vineyards in the area, with vines first planted in 1973. The original 21 acres is still dry grown, a factor thought to help concentrate the fruit flavours with the naturally lower yields also helping on this front.
Juniper Estate Philosophy
Juniper aims to produce Estate wines which rank with the best wines to come from Wilyabrup, doing justice to the well established vineyards and the celebrated terroir that Wilyabrup is famous for. Juniper Estate also has a second label 'Crossing' that combines estate fruit with some from carefully managed vineyards in the area.
Juniper Estate Winemaking
Mark Messenger, formerly the Assistant Winemaker at Cape Mentelle, has been the Winemaker at Juniper Estate since 1998. A brand spanking new winery and temperature controlled barrel room was built in 1999 helping make Mark's life easier. mark's winemaking style is aimed at producing elegant yet powerful wines, with extensive use of quality oak and some judicious bottle age giving the wines added complexity.
Juniper Estate Wine types
The Juniper Estate and Crossings range all utilise quite traditional blends and varieties for Margaret River, including Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a cane cut Riesling and a celebrated new Tempranillo.

Margaret River plus Chardonnay equals gold, gold, gold. And from a name such as Juniper Estate it is not to be missed. Typical Margaret River with beautiful tropical fruit aromas and flavours lifted by some well-judged smoky oak. Margaret River, I...
Woah. Who would have thought this would be so concentrated? Suffice to say its a serious Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot that belies it's pricepoint to look much more tannic and deep than expected.
The second label Chardonnay in the Juniper portfolio, this carries much of the intensity and richness of the top tier wine, if cast in a slightly less oaky (and slightly less serious) frame.
