Kangarilla Road Location and History

Kangarilla Road is based in South Australia’s beautiful McLaren Vale. While Kangarilla Road came into being in 1997, the vineyard and winery were originally established in 1975. They now export to over 16 countries around the world. The estate is named after the main road running past the vineyard towards the small village of Kangarilla. It is a derivation of the Aboriginal language indicating the abundance of local resources.

About Kangarilla Road

Kangarilla Road is driven by the husband and wife team of Kevin and Helen O'Brien. Kevin is an oenologist with 20 years experience in the wine industry. Helen brings marketing flair, with extensive experience in the public relations, promotions and fashion industries. The pair employ a simple philosophy of producing wine they enjoy drinking.

They show the rich fruit character and soft approachable tannins that are typical of McLaren Vale. The winery is focused on Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. They have a sound reputation for specialist Zinfandel styles and also make Viognier and Sangiovese.

Black St Peters might sound a bit like a rogue monk, but it's actually the name Zinfandel was given in the mid-1800s when it was orginially sold out of a nursery on Long Island. It is a prominent variety in the USA, but it has found its way here t...

Here is a value chardonnay from Kangarilla Road in McLaren Vale that won’t break the bank. It's a very modern style of chardy showing lots of citrus and tropical fruits on the nose. The palate is light to medium-bodied with crisy lemon citrus, a c...
