Katnook Estate 1997 Merlot and Blends Wines
This has a good measure of the fruity smoothness that people look for in merlot. The nose has spiced plum varietal fruit with an interesting leafy, undergrowthy touch and a dab of savoury charry oak. The palate has spice and berry flavours, and a tight texture. It finishes with fine tannins. A good wine without doubt, but it lacks a bit of majesty.
