The first vines were planted soon after the purchase of the Katnook Estate in 1971 with winemaker Wayne Stebhens continuously making the wines since then. Katnook has won two Jimmy Watson trophies and is renowned for its seductive red wines.
Katnook Location
Set in the centre of Coonawarra’s grape growing district, a short distance from the town of Penola, Katnook occupies vineyard sites on the famed Terra Rossa strip of the region.
Katnook Wine Types
Katnook produces excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot with white grapes Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.

Katnook is divided into three ranges, Katnook, Founder’s Block and Riddoch wines.
Katnook Winery
A wealth of experience is found in the Katnook winery, as is a modern approach to vinification with liberal use of new oak. Stebhens believes in a non-static winery environment, preferring to adapt winemaking to the vagaries of each harvest.
