Founded in 1969, Knappstein has been known for producing regionally distinctive, premium wines. A historical link to Clare Valley’s early history comes from the acquisition of an original 1800’s brewery, which now again produces beer, albeit now for the Knappstein brand.
Knappstein Wines Location
Knappstein is a Clare Valley wine producer located to the north of Clare township. Vineyards include the renowned Auckland and Enterprise vineyards provide single vineyard wines with very high quality fruit to work with.
Knappstein Wine Types
Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are the primary focus of the winery, though Riesling has a significant presence due to the significant vineyard sites and exacting quality produced at Knappstein. Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc wines are produced, as are a fortified single vineyard Shiraz, a sparkling Riesling and a late harvest Riesling.
