Part of the new generation of Barossa winemakers, Massena is a collaboration of two young wine industry guns aiming to make interesting Barossan wines
Massena History
Massena wines was born in 1999 in a beat-up old Toyota Corolla nicknamed “The Brown Bullet”, with the initial release a Grenache based red blend called 'the Moonlight Run'. Since then the range has expanded to include some oddities, alongside some rather classic Barossan reds.
Massena Vineyards
Fruit is mainly sourced from growers in the North Western Barossa - areas such as Greenock, Kalimna and Koonunga Hill - with said fruit usually coming off dry farmed, low yielding vines up to 120 years of age.
Massena Wine Types
The main game here is traditional Barossan varieties - Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro - but the boys are also experimenting with new varieties in the Barossa such as Petite Sirah, Barbera, Dolcetto, Roussanne, Saperavi and Tannat.
