Part of the new wave of modern Hunter winemaker, the Eather boys - Rhys and Garth - are behind the Meerea Park label, proudly crafting timeless Hunter styles (with some clever Hilltops ring-ins) from some of the Hunter's finest vineyards.
Meerea Park Winemaking
Rhys takes care of the winemaking duties at Meerea Park, counting a Wine Science degree and vintages in the Rhone, Puglia and Piedmonte as part of his resume. Interestingly though the Eather boys can trace their winemaking heritage right back to the 1850's when Alexander Munro, the boys great-great-grandfather, established the 'Bebeah' vineyard at Singleton, which was at one stage the largest and most successful winemaker in New South Wales.
Meerea Park Wine Types
The bias here is all Hunter, with Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay the winery focal points, with Verdelho and a sneaky white blend also in the mix. Single vineyard, classically styled Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay are the stars though, and star they do, with the winery picking up at least one gold medal at every Hunter Valley wine show since 2002!
