Moorilla is a highly stylised winery that produces wines of premium quality with fruit sources managed with organic and biodynamic handling. The wines are variable, as vintage vagaries are prized in the wines, and a collection of old and new world technique drives their style.
Moorilla Estate Location
Moorilla Estate is located on the banks of the Derwent River, 15 minutes drive north of Hobart city. While an established vineyard site is found at the cellar door location, Moorilla sources its fruit from a variety of vineyards to create its range of wines.
Moorilla Estate Wine Types
Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay are all produced across the two brands, while a brut and Rose sparkling also sit within the ranges.
Moorilla Estate Brands
The range is divided into the Muse series and the Praxis series. Praxis is styles towards New World winemaking and wine profiles, while the Muse wines are created with an Old World philosophy, resulting in wines of great longevity.
Moorilla Estate Winery
Modern thinking meets traditional winemaking – the wines are produced with a foot in each camp, allowing both sets of philosophies to be drawn upon in the winery. Wines are blended according to style, allowing the winemaker to achieve a higher quality.
