Morris Wines was established in 1859. A family owned wine business, the fifth generation now controls the business, and continues the long historical legacy of the winery. When father Mick retired in 1993, the reigns fell into son David’s hands, and he has controlled the company’s Mia Mia winery in the Brown’s Plains since.
Morris Wines Location
Morris Wines is positioned in Rutherglen wine growing region in northern Victoria. The Morris cellar door is a tribute to the 1897 winery and constructed in 1972 with the guiding hand of renowned architect Robyn Boyd.
Morris Wine Types
Fortifieds are the bench mark wines, however the winery does produce excellent table wines of robust flavour and concentration. Varieties grown include Chardonnay, Durif, Cinsault, Shiraz and Cabernet, though the benchmark is the remarkable, original fortified wines.
Morris Brands
Morris is the core brand.
Morris Winery
The traditional winery still shows its heritage with dirt floors and old large format casks. While techniques have been refined, a very minimalist, old school approach to wine making continues at Morris. Rustic wines which are full on flavour, layered and flavoursome are the calling card of the winery.

Apera is the new sherry. From the palomino grape, with an average age of five years, four of which are under flor yeast, Morris is impeccably made, retaining both freshness and tang, while capturing nutty complexity and a lingering salty finish. A...
Morris makes miniscule volumes of vintage port, and it’s worth tracking down for $25 direct, particularly if you have the stamina to leave it in the cellar for 20 or 30 years. Shiraz touriga durif is an unusual blend, and it works remarkably well,...
