Few wineries deserve to be called iconic yet Mount Langi Ghiran is certainly one that this accolade sits comfortably with. Located in Victoria’s Grampians region and planted in the late 1960’s by the Fratin brothers, it was the winemaking of Trevor mast, who bought the property in 1987, that bought the class of Mount Langi into sharp focus.
The greatest vintages of Mount Langi’s Ghiran Shiraz manage to provide exceptionally complex fruit and spice characters while never falling into overripe territory. The wines also age magnificently well.
In 2002 after some years of underperformance Mount Langi Ghiran was bought by the Rathbone Family Wine group and since that time has resumed its deserved position among Victoria’s finest Shiraz. An important part of that resurgence has certainly been the services of Dan Buckle who shows a unique touch in coaxing the best from this hallowed terroir.
Mount Langi Ghiran Wines
Mount Langi Ghiran has a number of ranges. At the top are their Langi Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon crafted from the original Langi vineyards as well as a handy Riesling. Next are the Cliff Edge wines made from wines sourced from small growers in the Grampians, with a Riesling and Shiraz bottled under this label.
The Billi Billi wines are sourced from farther afield throughout Victoria with a Pinot Grigio and Shiraz in the range, the Shiraz sourced from old bush vintages between 80 and 100 years old making it a great introduction to the classic Mount Langi style.

Now we are getting a bit more serious here with Grampian Pinto Gris, in a truly French style. No dilute wishy, washy dry white here rather a richer and wholesome wine, just like the team at Cracka! But seriously this screams out for some food – a ...
Pinot Grigio is not a wine to ponder – rather just pull the top off, pour yourself a big glass and enjoy, and enjoy you will with this juicy number from Mount Langi. Fresh pear fruits with a citrus kick that is light weight, dry and very easy to d...
