Established in 1971 by Yarra Valley visionaries John and Marli Middleton, Mount Mary was born from a love of French wines and a pursuit of a suitable place to establish a vineyard site that would support traditionally styled wines. The wines are internationally revered for their balance, elegance, longevity and complexity. They are mad in very small quantity.
Mount Mary Vineyard Location
Located in Lilydale, in the heart of Victoria’s Yarra Valley, Mount Mary is an institution of Australian wine. The vineyards are managed with sustainable practices and the location in natural surrounds is prized by the owners and winemaking team.
Mount Mary Vineyard Wine Styles
Stylistically the wines are heavily accented towards boutique French wine production. Barrel fermented and lees stirred white wines and lean, complex yet restrained reds are the focus.
Mount Mary Vineyard Brands
Triolet, Quintet, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the four wines. Triolet is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadet and sees older barrels. Quintet is a Bordeaux blend with extended wood fermentation in large format barrels.
Mount Mary Vineyard Winery
Very traditional wine making takes place – it is a hands on process with minimal intervention, older oak use and an adherence to expressing the natural expression of the premium fruit.
