Established in 1991, Pepper Tree Winery is led by winemaker Jim Chatto, a former graduate of the prestigious Len Evans Tutorial and the 2009 Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year. Production has increased gradually over the past decade, but the ethos of producing premium quality wines from select regional specific varieties continues.
Pepper Tree Wines Location
The Hunter Valley, Orange, Coonawarra and Wrattonbully all host vineyards for Pepper Tree wines but the physical and spiritual home of the winery and cellar door is in the village of Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley.
Pepper Tree Wine Style
Semillon and Shiraz are varieties of focus, but noble varieties Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are also produced. Viognier, Pinot Gris, Tempranillo and Verdelho are also being vinified with success.
Pepper Tree Brands
Varietal range, Limited Release range, Reserve range and Grand Reserve range delineate the wines under the Pepper Tree umbrella, with select wines making each tier of the brand structure.
Pepper Tree Winery
Modern production methods are engaged in the winery and the wine making team undertakes ongoing research to improve quality pre, post and during ferment.
