Pertaringa 2006 Shiraz and Blends Wines

Meaty, cooked and minty, with baked plum, redcurrant and blackberry flavours backed by assertive, chocolatey oak. Initially intense, its palate then dries out towards an angular, dusty and green-edged finish, with lingering nuances of menthol. It does open out with more length and fruit sweetness, but remains hollow and cooked.

This contains some of the prime parcels of McLaren Vale fruit, presided over by Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask. It's stacked to the roof with ripe juicy blackberry fruit, plums and toasty oak for good measure; the palate's still unfurling so give it a break in the cellar before you hop in.
