Petersons began producing their own quality wines in 1981, starting out with Shiraz and Chardonnay. They now have vineyards in the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and New England Regions of New South Wales.
Petersons Wines Location & History
Petersons Wines is a boutique winery based in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley. Pharmacist, Ian Peterson bought the Glenesk dairy farm at Mount View in 1964 with the intention of raising cattle for beef. He planted the original Peterson vineyard in 1971, initially supplying Semillon fruit to the McWilliam's winery. By 1980, there were more than 10 ha under vine, including Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir varieties.
Petersons Wine Styles & Labels
Petersons make three distinct wine styles from the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Armidale wineries. Flagship Wines include: GKR Hunter Valley Chardonnay, Back Block Hunter Valley Shiraz, Russells Shiraz Bin 18 Hunter Valley, Ian’s Selection Shiraz Mudgee, Glenesk Cabernet Sauvignon Mudgee.

Light yellow colour. Pineappley tropical fruit. Does have some nice lees touches adding to the bouquet. Typical Aussie ""sunshine in a bottle"" chardonnay. Broad and obvious, no real subtlety or mystery here. Grapy, pulpy, the opposite of minerall...
