Pettavel released its first wines from the 2000 vintage and has continued to produce wines that remain true to the focus of their estate, and their Geelong wine region passion. The family behind Pettavel, the Fitzpatricks, come from a long line of grape growers and continue the family tradition, having selected Geelong as an ideal site for premium grape growing.

Pettavel Location

Inspired by David Pettavel, a pioneer of the early Geelong wine region, Pettavel is located on the outskirts of Geelong with an established vineyard surrounding the winery at Waurn Ponds and a second vineyard 25 kilometres away, the Strathmore Vineyard. The total area under vine is approximately 185 acres, with Waurn Ponds planted exclusively to Shiraz.

Pettavel Wine Styles

Pettavel excels at Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, varieties well heeled in Geelong, but also creates wines from Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.

Pettavel Brands

Pettavel is distinguished by three tiers to the brand, Southern Émigré is the flagship wine, only produced in exceptional vintages, Platina, a range that showcases select barrels and blends, and Evening Star the estate grown entry level wines.

Pettavel Winery

Pettavel’s winery was constructed in 2001 and is a ‘state of the art’ production facility designed to assist with the minimal intervention philosophy of the winemaking team.
