Pike and Joyce is the coming together of two families: The Pike family, whom are long established grapegrowers and winemakers; and the Joyce family, themselves fifth generation horticulturists. In 1998 the two families joined together to develop a vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, with the Pike & Joyce label bred out of the partnership.
Pike and Joyce Vineyard
The Pike and Joyce vineyard is located at Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills, with some 25ha currently under vine sitting at between 500-550m above sea level. It's something of an ideally situated vineyard is the Pike and Joyce, with the vines planted on a naturally steep north/east facing slope. The vineyard is all hand pruned and hand harvested, with the fruit then sent off to the Pike's winery for vinification.
Pike and Joyce Winemaking
All of the Pike and Joyce wines are made at Pikes in the Clare Valley and produced using a variety of methods, particularly including wild yeast fermentation for portions of the Pinot Noir and all of the Chardonnay, with the wines then finished in exclusively french oak for 10-12 months.
