River Farm Wines
This is sourced from the St Maur road vineyard in the Southern Wairau Valley - a part of Marlborough that is classically renowned as 'ground central' for great Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is surprisingly clever too, with a little bit more winemaking cleverness used to make this more complex, more interesting and generally less like your average Marlborough Sauv. Likeability ++

A quite traditionally styled Marlborough Chardonnay this one, which means that it's got richness, weight and the lovely nougat/play dough/peach crumble fruit and oat almalagam that the best Marlbouiogh Chardonnays show.

The first release for this new operation, this is pretty serious Pinot Noir and made with the full swag of Pinot winemaking tools, including cold soaks, indigenous yeast fermentation, the lot. The net result is proper grown up Pinot, no question about it.

Lots to love with this puppy - a rich and luscious full bodied white wine that is loaded with spicy, highly aromatic Gewurtz fruit. In fact it's almost like a wine party in your mouth - not a ridiculously raucous party of course but still a good one.

Now with an extra year or so under ti's belt, this grassy yet quite rounded citrussy Sauv Blanc has lovely simple green melon fruits with that classic Marlborough freshness. Simple charm in this wine.

River Farm Wines
This is a stylish and complex wine, made from a couple of choice parcels, with partial barrel fermentation and an all-round eye to creating something more distinctive. The nose has Tahitian lime and very subtle background chalky lees-derived complexity, yet it's still very youthful and gently flinty. The palate has bright acid crunch and plenty of fruit - nicely balanced - and the texture is subtly worked. This has much going for it if you're planning on eating. Superb!

Our Merlot is showing great promise and is already drinking very well. It is deeply coloured, with an inviting nose of rich earthy aromas complemented by black currant, violet, chocolate and spice flavours. It is a big bodied and complex wine, beautifully balanced with a long and generous mouth-feel. It will continue to develop in the bottle over the next ten years.

Our Ben Morven is showing great promise and is already drinking very well. It will also continue to develop in the bottle over the next year. Very high quality fruit from low cropping vines picked at optimum ripeness has created a special and generous wine. The nose is inviting with tropical aromas and underlying herbaceousness and citrus, the colour is warm and bright. The wine palate weight, texture and complexity leads to a lingering, moreish finish. River Farm awards & Accolades Pure Bronze Medal – Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2010 Bronze - Royal Easter Show Wine Awards 2011 “Lifted passion fruit, capsicum and box hedge on the nose with similar flavours on the palate plus a taut ...

Our Godfrey Road Pinot Gris is a dry and delicate yet textural wine. A creamy mouth-feel and luscious flavours of pear, pineapple and melon with good acidity lead to a long lingering finish. River Farm Awards & Accolades "Sophisticated Pinot Gris with a mix of pear, quince and brioche together with a subtle toasty, nutty influence. The wine is reasonably dry with an almost creamy texture and lingering finish. Gentle acidity and fine tannins balance barely discernible sweetness." 4 Stars - Bob Campbell, MW
