READ ABOUT Shottesbrooke Winery...
Established in 1984 by ex-Ryecroft winemaker Nick Holmes, it is named after an estate in England where Nick’s grandfather was the parish priest in the early 1900s. Today this wine business is still very much in the family with Nick’s stepson Hamish Maguire taking over the winemaking duties.

Shottesbrooke swiftly built a reputation for producing McLaren Vale wines at the more elegant end of the spectrum, rather than the ‘ball tearers’ that usually emerge from the region. This outcome probably has something to do with the fact some of the 24-hectares of vineyards are located on Nick’s Myponga property in the hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula, where the climate is a little kinder.

Using modern winemaking techniques, Hamish crafts wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in Sparkling, table and fortified styles. They vary from tropical, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc through to rich, chocolaty Cabernet Sauvignon full of McLaren Vale expression.
