Marlborough’s new claim to fame could well be Pinot Noir and the Summerhouse winery has crafted a cracker using sustainable methods. That means the fruit from the vineyards have been grown meticulously and with minimal intervention. This reeks of Pinosity, imbuing the wine with cherry and black berry as well as hints of violets, it’s got a captivating texture with seamless tannins and keen acid finish.

The Summerhouse story is all about freedom of expression according to the owners, allowing the vineyard to express itself by capturing the essence of the season and variety. The winemakers Heather and Meric are passionate folk working to bring the best of each vintage to fruition in their Marlborough vineyard. This single vineyard Chardonnay is full of aromas of white peach and citrus with a rich vein of oak. The fruit soars on the palate, showing a balanced structure and an impressively long finish.
