The Ned Wines

2009 The Ned Pinot Noir

Whilst Central Otago hogs all the NZ Pinot Noir attention on a global scale, there is much much more Pinot Noir produced in Marlborough. As a result, all the best bargains come out of Marlborough, as witnessed by this wine, The Ned. If Ned was a person he (or she) would be one of the most popular at a party. They would be fun, laidback and smooth, with endless generosity without being shallow. As a wine it's just a lovely drinking Pinot, with everything in it's right place at the very right price.

2010 The Ned Sauvignon Blanc

The Ned is situated in some of the most dramatic landscape in Marlborough, New Zealand. Winemaker Brent Marris knew this special place was where he wanted to craft wines that spoke of place. If you love the vibrancy of Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, you’ll be in for a treat with this release. Aromas of lime and herb on the nose before a palate of lime, and capsicum before crunchy citrus acids punch through the long finish. A quality wine to pair with Asian style stir frys and curries.

2010 The Ned Pinot Gris

A Pinot Gris to support Marlborough’s claim of making some very exciting new styles that go beyond the standard fare of Sauvignon Blanc. Perhaps it’s time for Kiwi Gris to shine as this wine clearly illustrates. Varietal with pear and spice and some nectarine skin complexity before a richly flavoured palate of pear, quince and spiced fruit. It’s rich and ripe with lovely balanced texture and acidity. It would suit creamy pasta dishes as well as mild Thai and Vietnamese dishes.

The Ned Wines

This is a lovely example of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that is bursting with tropical and citrus fruit flavours with some delicate herbaceous notes on the finish.

The Ned Wines

Colour: Hints of ruby and indigo. Aroma: Primary berry fruit, slight leathery spice, savoury and toasty oak. Palate: Lovely rich, soft primary berry fruit characters fill the aroma and follow through on the palate. Silky tannins, ripe berry fruit and an underlying lifted spice make this Pinot Noir truly elegant. Layers of ripe berry fruit, hints of toasty oak and a touch of savoury on the finish complete a Pinot Noir of distinction. Food Matching: Lamb, roast chicken and char grilled vegetables.
