Tisdall wines are all based upon a single vineyard at Echuca in Victoria's Goulburn Valley. Peter Tisdall established this vineyard in 1971 and pioneered a number of grape varieties in Australia, with, the vineyard boasting in 1978 to have one of the country’s largest Chardonnay plantings and one of the first plantings of Merlot. The winery itself opened in 1979.
The Tisdall vineyard
With some 70 hectares now planted, most of the fruit for the Tisdall label is drawn from the estates own 'Rusbercon' vineyard that now includes vines that are up to 40 years old.
Tisdall Winemaking
The Tisdall facilities have all been recently upgraded, particularly driven by the fact that Tisdall do contract winemaking for clients such as Tyrrells, Yalumba and Fosters. The Senior Winemaker is David Crawford, whom previously made wine at Willow Bridge in WA.
Tisdall Wine Types
The main focus of the Tisdall range is Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

Medium to light red colour, faint purple rim. Green, herbal aroma; smells like plum skins. A hint of grape marc. The palate is lean and light, weak and even hollow. Falls away very short, too. Firm after-grip. Needs to be very cheap.
