MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Merlot is the ultimate blending variety, as a single varietal it gets a few snide comments yet the good people of Bordeaux know that the fruit forward generosity of this grape is essential to the structure of many of the best reds. This wine wisel...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

A deep red and violet purple colour . The nose is lifted and complex that is a complex melange of fruit, subtle spices including green pepper, liquorice, prunes, black cherries and some toasty elements. The palate reflects the complexity of the no...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Biodynamic producer. This wine is a deep red colour, with a very ripe, intense nose. Aromas of liqorice, mint and blackberries mingle with discreet oaky notes. The palate is supple, elegant with delicate tannins and is perfectly balanced. ...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

The town of Saint-Emilion is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is renowned for the old stone buildings as much as for its wine. Its name has been associated with wine since an- cient times. This curious, original town dates from the ...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

42% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Franc, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon. Appearance: Garnet red, steady, brilliant with pinkish tints. Nose: Complex nose, spicy, with aromas of prune and pepper. Palate: Supple on the palate, balanced with notes of raspberry jam...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Bordeaux Superieur Rouge sits above Bordeaux Rouge in the general scheme of things, so for a couple of dollars more, you tend to get a touch more quality. This one comes from a fantastic year in Bordeaux, and shows graceful cassis fruits on the no...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Nothing says summer like Rose, and this one would be great to share with your mates on the verandah on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Not only does it have a very pretty pink colour, it also displays appealing strawberry and raspberry aromas on the nose...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

The Trinity Hill reds are really exciting us with their unique expression of soil and this blend is reminiscent of Bordeaux so you could say it’s a kiwi with a French accent. As well as Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc there’s Syrah and Malbec ...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Good concentration, richness and flesh. Ripe and deep coloured, young and dense, and needs more time. Smart stuff.

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

There's a lot more crushed-leaf and tomato aroma than usual in 2009 Pomerols, a suggestion of cabernet franc, accompanied by attractive elegance on the palate. It's tight and firm, concentrated and tannic - more graceful than most '09 Pomerols, wi...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Plummy, softly ripe nose with some chocolate and smoky sulfides. Humus/undergowth as well. Fleshy and savoury in the mouth, with lots of grainy tannins, and a slight bitterness. Not bad but not a favourite style of mine.

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Shy nose, which took time to open up. Later it showed flowers, violets and spices, with attractive fruit. It's a fairly full-bodied wine, powerful and rich, with lots of muscle and flavour and power, with a warmth of alcohol on the finish. Quite e...

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Deep colour. Ripe and rich, soft, fleshy and supple. Typical Graves earthy character, lots of extract, but just medium-bodied. No sign of over-ripeness. Balanced and easygoing. 14% alcohol and good drinking now - and it will age well

MERLOT CABERNET WINES

Lots of expensive oak here, smoky and spicy on the bouquet, with shy dark fruits as well. Superb flavour and richness in the mouth, with fleshy fruit, persistent fine-grained tannins and all things in generous helpings but also good balance. Very ...
