SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

Dean Hewitson makes wines that are inextricably linked to family, like this Barossa Shiraz that is named after his sons. Here’s a classic case of making a full-bodied Shiraz that is not too overwhelming in that’s its possible to drink at lunchtime...

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

Deep, bright purple/red colour. Fairly lean, light to medium-weight wine with some juicy fruit in the mid-palate and a slim, slightly pinched finish with some tannin firmness. There's a slight wateriness to the mid-palate. Hot and grippy.

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

Like Bin 8, I've never seen Penfolds open a bottle of Bin 2 to show it off, yet this blend of shiraz (81%) and Mourvedre (19%) from the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale is well-crafted, appealing and fruit-focused. Blackberries and black cherries a...

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

Good colour, especially for the vintage, and it heralds a medium-bodied wine with good depth and a complex array of red and black fruits framed by French oak and ripe tannins. Not many in South Eastern Australia did as well at this price level.

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

Clear crimson; has great freshness on the bouquet and medium-bodied palate; clever work in the winery has given a silky, supple mouthfeel to the wine, the focus on red and black cherry inviting early consumption.

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

Good colour; the typically fragrant bouquet leads into a medium-bodied palate, shiraz and mourvedre taking turns to express their respective personalities. Gives every indication it will flourish in the years ahead.

SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE WINES

The 2010 vintage provided perfect conditions for Ned & Henry’s. The colour of the 2010 Ned and Henry's is very deep red with a purple hue. The aroma is distinctively Barossa Valley: black and red, ripe fruits and a dried herb spice influence by ...
