With vineyards first established by Perc Mcguigan and the famous Max Schubert, Yarraman has a rather salubrious history in the upper Hunter that dates back to the 1950's, having passed through Penfolds, Rosemount and now private hands once again.
Yarraman Estate Vineyards
Yarraman Estate was fortunate to be setup well to begin with, the vineyards planted to suitable clones (including Shiraz cuttings from the Penfolds Magill vineyard) and fed from the nearby Wybong creek. Today the estate vineyards make up some 200 acres (including some 40 year old vines), with the production supplemented by a further 470 acre vineyard at Jugiong, near Gundagai in southern NSW.
Yarraman Estate Wine Types
The Yarraman Range is a large one, incorporating several different lines within the portfolio at different pricepoints. These include the budget conscious 'Trios' wines that focus on blends like Semillon Chardonnay and Cabernet Merlot and right up to the premium estate wines focusing on single varietal Shiraz, Chardonnay, Chambourcin and Merlot (amongst others).
