Red - Petit Sirah
While durif originated in France, it is most widely grown in California, Israel and warm inland areas of Australia, particularly the north eastern Victorian region of Rutherglen. Durif is a cross of shiraz and peloursin. It is a thick skinned variety with small, inky black berries. It produces richly flavoured wines filled with spicy plum fruits, lots of tannin and a tendency towards high alcohol levels.
