Red - Sangiovese
Sangiovese is the most extensively grown variety in Italy. It is most celebrated in the Tuscan region of Chianti and capable of producing wines of exceptional longevity. The variety adapts well to a range of sites and climates and is grown in the USA as well as Australia. It makes wines of vibrant cherry, savoury tobacco and tea leaf characters with high acidity and firm, drying tannins.
While they are light in colour, wines are medium to full bodied and and pair well with food. Sangiovese is often found bended with cabernet sauvignon and merlot in the modern ‘Super Tuscan’ style.
