White - Colombard

This white variety has a long history in the French region of Charente where it is used in the making of Cognac. It is also grown in California, South Africa and near Bordeaux. Colombard is grown throughout warmer areas of Australia to make a fairly neutral, fruity wine.

The variety is high yielding with high natural acidity. It is often used in cask wines and blended with other grape varieties such as chardonnay to give freshness and lift. Colombard is a wine to be enjoyed young.
