White - Frontignac
Dating back to Greek and Roman times, the ancient frontignac variety is thought to be the oldest in existence. It is well known for producing Italian Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti styles as well as the sweet wines of France’s Rhone Valley and Banyuls. Frontignac is a highly aromatic grape with a powerful perfume that follows through into the mouth.
Typical characters include florals, orange blossom, jasmine and plenty of spice. Traditional Australian examples include generous still wines and luscious late harvest or dessert styles from the Barossa Valley. Frontignac is now widely used in trendy moscato wines with sweetness and spritz.
