Is there anything better to bathe the senses in than McLaren Vale Shiraz? We think not, and Chapel Hill has ensured a Shiraz that is seductively regional and attractive. World famous for its Shiraz, McLaren Vale shows a mixture of power and restraint. This is fit for food with its bold aromas of blueberry and plum fruit with extraordinary tannins on the lingering finish. Bold yet balanced this is a wine for that will keep in the medium term, if you can resist.
Cracka Rating

Displays hedonistic blueberry, pimento and roasted almond flavours. The harmonious integration and balance of these fruit flavours with the gently textured oak, is further enhanced by the defiantly persistent and mouth filling savoury tannin structure.

McLaren Vale is never lacking for colour, density or concentration of all-encompassing black fruits, but the thing that elevates Chapel Hill to a position among the gods has nothing to do with any of these. This is a wine of structure, first and foremost, of deep, all-pervading, ultra-fine, firm, textural tannins that promise a devastating performance in a decade's time.

Wine Taste - Edition 59
Rather baked and lacking genuine fruit sweetness and intensity, this dark, meaty, chocolatey and briary shiraz does reflect some stressed influences in the vineyard. Dense and ultra-ripe, it's moderately but not greatly long, with a currant-like presence of dark berry flavours.
