2001 Cape d'Estaing Shiraz
6 x 750ml Bottles
Cracka ReviewKangaroo Island is about more than just kangaroos. They have koalas too. And wine. Lots of surprising wine. Surprising wines that showcase this cool windy island with their extra layers of natural acidity and freshness compared to their mainland compatriots. With this red we have a fully mature example of Kangaroo Island Shiraz now drinking at its absolute peak.
Winemaker's NoteAppearance: Very deep red - dark, opaque. Heavy, glass-staining.
Nose: Very lifted ripe and forward, showing generous plummy shiraz notes with plenty of complementary oak.
Palate: This is big and full, with rich lingering shiraz flavours such as spice, plums and berry fruits. The structure is solid and complete with the still youthful tannins providing a solid backbone.
Cellaring: This is a wine which will mature beautifully over 10-15 years. It has great flavour and a very good ripe firm structure which will really benefit from time in bottle.
