2001 Foggo Wines Old Vine Shiraz
12 x 750ml Bottles
Cracka ReviewLove a bit of old vine Shiraz and this one, made from vines planted in 1915, despite its age, is still a full-bodied beefcake of a wine. First there is some cassis, and fleshy blackberry fruit that is fleshy and full finishing with soft drying tannins. A wine for all the meat eaters out there!
Winemaker's NoteVintage 2001 was an extremely hot and dry season providing incredible concentration of colour and flavour.
Foggo Wines Shiraz comes from gnarled and contorted old vines planted in 1915 along the banks of a tributary of Pedler's Creek. The winery vineyard on Foggos Road is famous for its Shiraz dry grown on fertile dark alluvial soils.
The utmost respect was paid to the fruit from this special block of vines and the unique flvaours provided by their decades of development. Traditional handling techniques and modern understanding have joined forces in the making of this product resulting in a beautiful fruit driven wine.
The bouquet is smokey French oak, pepper, plum and blackberry. The palate is fresh berry fruit, robust mouth feel and excellent length. Enjoy.
