1998 d'Arenberg The Coppermine Road Cab Sauv
1 x 750ml Bottles
Winemaker's NoteOver the past five decade d'Arenberg has released wine from our Cabernet Sauvignon to critical acclaim. Four decades on, sufficiently different parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon vinified separately to d'Arenberg's well established High Trellis Block have consistently proven their worth & have been bottled separately to become this, d'Arenberg's fourth ever Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon.
Invariably the last block to fully ripen from late April, to mid May in a typical Vintage, The Coppermine Road was gently guided through the Cellars by fourth generation, family winemaker Chester Osborn. After hand harvesting the small berried fruit into old kerosene tins, the fruit was then gently crushed by the open mouthed, rubber toothed 'Demoisy' crusher & pumped into traditional, headed down, open fermenters. Up to three weeks later, the still fermenting Cabernet Sauvignon was then gently pressed by our 19th Century 'Coq' & 'Tregoning' basket presses into predominantly new & first use French Oak Barriques for 22 months maturation before blending & bottling at d'Arenberg.
Natural minimum processing ensures maximum flavour, which may result in a harmless deposit in, & adhering to the bottle. This is the fourth small separate bottling of The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon to be released. We are confident it will benefit from further bottle age & decanting.
d'Arenberg Reviews and Accolades
"It boasts a dense purple color as well as an exquisitely pure nose of cassis, oak, earth, cedar, and spice box. Full-bodied and powerful, with a seamless personality (because of the melted tannin), this large-scaled, classic southern Australian Cabernet Sauvignon can rival the world's finest Cabernet Sauvignons."
