1998 d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings GSM
1 x 750ml Bottles
Winemaker's NoteOver the past four decades d'Arenberg has released a separate 'Pressings' based wine every few vintages, and since 1988, every vintage. The Ironstone Pressings Grenache-Shiraz-Mourvedre is a continuation of that tradition, aspiring to the original style; intense fruit aromas, a robust flavour and a fruit capacity for bottle age. Although specifically suited for further cellaring and decanting, the richness of the style can reward early drinking.
Natural minimal processing ensures maximum flavour which results in a harmless deposit in, and adhering to the bottle.
d'Arenberg Reviews and Accolades
"Firm in texture, refined and elegant for a big, broad-shouldered wine, offering smoky currant, plum and pepper flavors that hover expectantly over a chewy finish, persisting impressively."
92 Points - Wine Spectator, Harvey Steiman Issue: May 31 2004
"The 1998 The Ironstone Pressings is a powerful, dense, thick, slightly monolithic effort with copious amounts of blackberry fruit, huge body, and the potential to evolve for two decades. Even though it had been in the bottle for some time when I tasted it, it was still unformed. With silky tannin, explosive richness, and potentially top-flight perfume, it will have many admirers after another six months of bottle age."
92 Points Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jnr. Issue: #135
