2010 Zonte's Footstep Avalon Tree Cabernet
Colour: Deep purple – and when we say deep purple we mean deep purple with a regal purple hue.
Nose: Scented blueberries, then rolling smells of blackcurrants over rhubarb, rhubarb and thrice rhubarb smells and a little French oak cedar and clotted cream.
Palate: Direct, full and fine and precise Cabernet softness. A perfect Cabernet entry. Alert bright fruit. No callow Cabernet middle but instead rich soft mouth filling fruit, especially cassis and cedar. Juicy round blackberry sweetness, tempered with some taught but typical Cabernet tannin. Wonderful cigar box and supple fruit flavour but properly taught tannin. Intense and complex but with a lightness of red fruit flavour, which is surprising for such a full on wine.
This wine hangs about after you have tasted it for so long it seems almost self defeating, although you want another sip it is still in the mouth. Precise ‘line and length’ that lingers on and on with blackcurrant. Unctuous interesting complex but still will the fruit fullness of youth. Minutes later, the flavour still lingers. This is the eighth consecutive vintage of Zonte’s Cabernet and though it will drink great now, especially with any full flavoured meat based dishes, it will undoubtedly cellar well as previous vintages.

2010 Soul Growers Provident Shiraz
The fore fathers of the region had either a grand vision, or simple luck to plant Shiraz in the Barossa. It’s been and continues to be the very essence of our region and will remain an iconic variety representing some of the oldest vineyards and highest pedigree wines that adorns many of the fine cellars and wine lists of the world. The very Soul of the region.
Aged in older American oak hogsheads for 24 months from thirteen vineyards this wine has depth, richness and elegance. This wine will age 10 years plus.
2011 Fush n Chups Central Otago Pinot Noir
Each parcel of fruit from the selected vineyards were processed separately in open top fermenters. Cold soaked prior to primary fermentation the parcels then underwent an extended maceration before a gentle pressing into a mixture of new and seasoned French barriques. Each parcel was then lightly fined, prior to blending and subsequently lightly filtered.
This deep red pinot has notes of red plum and berry fruits on the nose. Its ripe red fruit flavours complemented by oak, intensify on the palate with hints of cherry and liquorice, delivering a long supple finish.
2010 Picante Espana Gran Meseta Tempranillo Shiraz
Picante Espana Awards & AccoladesThe affordable Spanish wine juggernaut continues apace. Dark cherry, strawberry, sage, a little spice and toast. Medium bodied, the flavour leans more towards the strawberry side and there’s some nutty and tarry elements here too. Fine acid, light but appropriate tannin, perhaps not a lot of depth, though certainly it makes for a nice drink. Has good line and a satisfying finish. I think we can get to 90 points here, all things considered. A good and interesting wine.'
