Located in Pokolbin, in the Lower Hunter Valley, Tamburlaine is green, clean and proud of it. There is almost nothing this winery has not done to work towards one of its goals of being carbon negative. Not only is Tamburlaine Australia’s largest certified organic wine producer, but there are ambitious plans to create their own electricity to power the winery. The History Tamburlaine was founded in 1966 by Dr. Lance Allen. In 1985, it was purchased by a group of friends and relatives, fronted by Managing Director and winemaker Mark Davidson. In 1995, Tamburlaine expanded its production and bought a vineyard in the Orange region. The Wines Winemaker Mark Davidson uses only the fruit from the Tamburlaine vineyards located in the Hunter Valley and Orange to make his artisan wines from varietals like Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The maturing of the vines has seen an impressive rise in quality across all wines.
