    Reviews and Accolades

"The dense purple-tinged 2004 Autograph (a 100% Shiraz from 45-year-old vineyards, aged 18 months in new American oak as well as a small quantity of French wood) exhibits a tight but promising nose of black raspberries, cassis, licorice, and acacia flowers. The ample fruit suggested by the aromatic profile is obvious on the attack, and the wine reveals impressive purity, texture, and persistence. It should drink well for 10-15 years. For some reason, this high quality winery never receives the press it merits."

  • James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says:

Dense, opaque colour; the bouquet and palate live up to the colour, but it is not over-extracted, and has very good balance between its abundant black fruits, oak and tannins; there is a very attractive earthy/savoury character to the palate that positively adds to the wine.

    James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says:

Dense, impenetrable purple; a wine of exceptional concentration, yet isn't extractive, nor is there alcohol-derived heat, nor yet dead fruit. Instead, there is a lively crosscut of licorice and savoury nuances to the central core of black fruits, and a long life ahead before the cork fails the wine.

    James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says:

Dense opaque crimson-purple; intense black fruits and licorice aromas and flavours, but the extract (and alcohol) has been tightly controlled.

    James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says:

Slightly more developed hue than the Reserve; more spicy, and more light and shade in the flavoursome texture; a particularly long finish, oak in restraint.

    Best Drinking: To 2017

    James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says:

Stylish wine; abundant, gently ripe plum and black fruits on the mid-palate; long, gently savoury, dry finish; fine tannins.
